The NFHS has narrowed the potential topics for 2011-12 policy debate.
- Civil Rights — Resolved: The United States federal government should amend Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, substantially increasing its protections against race and/or gender discrimination.
- Entitlement Reform — Resolved: the United States federal government should substantially reduce its spending for Medicare and/or Social Security.
- Higher Education — Resolved: The United States federal government should establish an education policy substantially increasing its support for postsecondary education in the United States.
- Immigration — Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its legal protection of economic migrants in the United States.
- Infrastructure — Resolved: the United States federal government should substantially increase domestic infrastructure development in one or more of the following areas: transportation, water, telecommunications.
I'm definitely not a fan of Entitlement Reform and think the wording on Immigration could be much better, but it's certainly an interesting collection of topics.
