Gender include language on the 2011-2012 space topic

Posted by jason in Policy Debate

The term "unmanned" and "manned" is quite common in the literature surrounding the 2011-2012 space exploration topic.  Teams wishing to avoid criticism of using gender exclusive language will need to consider what term(s) should as an alternative.

After some research, I uncovered this discussion on WordSmyth that suggests that, while problematic, the terms "staffed" and "unstaffed" might be an acceptable alternative.

Anyone have better?

  4. Resolved: The use of eminent domain for private economic development is just.
  5. Resolved: Estate taxes are just.
  6. Resolved: A government has the obligation to lessen the economic gap between its rich and poor citizens.

Constitutional Issues in Space

Posted by dpogreba in Policy Debate

While doing some entirely debate-unrelated research about Montana politics, I came across this article, which purports to outline the major constitutional issues related to NASA leading space exploration in the United States.

While I certainly can't vouch for the credibility of article and won't for the site upon which I found it, its claims might make some interesting summer reading before camps begin.
